What do you do for work?
I work as a Senior Advisor for Xcela Wealth. It is an Australian financial company that provides consulting services to medium-net-worth clients. Some of the most common job duties I fulfill include proper asset investing, long-term capital growth, and retirement options.
Why did you choose to pursue a career in the field in which you currently work?
It was not until my twenties that I was sure about my decision to pursue finance. Although I enjoyed learning about concepts like inflation, portfolio, and diversifying assets, I truly began to love this industry when I became a part of it. The main reason why I found myself in this clash between the worlds of accounting and economics is that I enjoy working with money and finding ways to make it grow.
In what way does your professional role make it possible for you to have a positive impact on others?
Well, the nature of my job at Xcela Wealth is based on serving clients. I have worked with many individuals who needed help and relief that they could only get through financial freedom. Most of them walk away from me with a lot more knowledge and confidence that enables them to never fall victims to economic downturns again.
What is it that you enjoy most about living in Melbourne, Australia?
It is an epicenter for all industries. People from around the world are still somewhat unaware of many perks that the economy of Australia offers. This helps minimize the number of competitors who come from foreign markets which means that most of our profits are shared locally. Not to mention the beauty of this place!
What do you do for recreation?
I love spending time outside and enjoy the Australian weather. Going on picnics or trips with my family are some of my most favorite things to do whenever I have some free time. I also workout frequently so that I can keep my physical health in the same state as my mental health that gets a lot of exercise during an average workday.
If you could travel anywhere outside of Australia, where would you go and why?
I always wanted to visit Greece. Since its economic crisis that has been getting plenty of international coverage, I learned a lot about the country. The beautiful islands and destinations that it possess in such a limited territory are amazing. It will probably be the next location for our family’s summer vacation. I love Australia do not get me wrong, but going outside of its borders can be extremely fun.
Aussie rules football, cricket, rugby or something else?
All of the above and more! Whenever you talk to a true Aussie like me, you will find an unmatched sense of pride that we have. I think that there are no countries in the world that truly offer much challenge to our best football teams. For the purposes of our conversation, we can pretend how that bold claim is the absolute truth even if we know better. To be fair, however, I am a little unfamiliar with cricket so I cannot offer much insight there. I am sure we are a force to be reckoned with there too!
Is there an Australian you admire or who has had a profound influence on you personally or professionally? Explain.
I am a fierce supporter of Hugh Jackman who has been one of the most motivating celebrities from Australia to me. Even before he achieved the mainstream popularity, I followed his endeavors in music and acting. Many people do not know that Jackman is a multi-instrumentalist who can play guitar and piano. He has been an inspiration to my professional career as he taught me about class and respect.
What advice would you give to a first-time visitor to Australia?
Do not expect to see spiders and deadly snakes everywhere. Many movies and TV shows have turned Australia into a place that people expect to be unimaginably tropical with jungles everywhere. This stereotype is about as accurate as Texas being nothing but a land of horse-riding cowboys in 2018!
What is the funniest or strangest question a tourist has ever asked you about Australia?
I really cannot think of any since I have not had that many interactions with tourists. I know some of my friends who complained of people’s misguided beliefs which is where my previous answer came from.
